About Me

My name is Maddy Moore and I am the writer and illustrator of The Cloud Maker comic. I'm a recent graduate from the University of Pennsylvania with a BA in Archaeology and Fine Arts. I am a proud user of the art website DeviantArt, where you can find a majority of my artwork. Beyond my capacities as an illustrator, I enjoy running, traveling, spoiling my dog, and drinking coffee on rainy days. I love and appreciate all of my readers and I am so thankful you took the time to read my story.

What Program do you Use to Make the Comic?
I usually start with a rough script and sketch on paper to construct a general layout and dynamic for each page. From there, I move to my iPad Pro where I open the program ArtStudio and do everything from paneling to text within the app. Sometimes I will use the computer program SketchUp to model complex interior backgrounds and Procreate to paint landscapes. A fully colored page with text will take anywhere from 6 to 8 hours.
Where Did the Original Idea come From?
I've always been fascinated by the concept of sea life in the sky. I guess it started when I was young and watched Disney's Fantasia 2000 for the first time. In the movie, whales rise from the sea and swim through the clouds. To me, it just looked so beautiful. As for the characters, the cast was thought out long ago, and recycled through different story ideas of mine. The second part of the story is heavily influenced by current events in the United States and the political divide that's emerged in recent years.
When do you Update your Pages?
No need to wait! The entire story is now available here to read for free! If I start writing a short story, the pages will likely update every other day. If I'm sick, on a trip, or otherwise indisposed, I will try my best to let my readers know in advance.
What's Next?
I started The Cloud Maker in June 2012, and finished in June 2020. The first part of the story was approximately 500 pages and was split into 15 volumes; each volume containing about 30 pages. You can buy the entire series to own at home HERE. As for what I plan to do next: who knows! I'm still writing TCM short stories, but I don't have any new story plans beyond that.
Have you Made any Other Comics?
Yes! I'm the writer and illustrator of a DreamWorks's Rise of the Guardians fancomic called SHIFT. You can also read that story for free HERE. I'm also the illustrator on several ongoing projects, including The Adventures of Hawt Flash and Solara (read HERE).
Where else can I find The Cloud Maker?

What WIX Template did you use to Create this Page?
I get asked this question a lot, so I decided to post my answer here. This page was not made with a 'webcomic' layout. I built the look and layout of the page from scratch, using the WIX widgets. Last time I looked, the gallery widget that I used to post the comic pages is no longer available to add to WIX websites. You are more than welcome to model your comic website after mine, but I can't offer any insights into my WIX layout, because the tools simply don't exist anymore. Sorry!
Do you Have a Question?
If you have a question about the comic or about my process in general, please feel free to visit the contact page and send me an email.
